You're not understanding. The EV Mode will shut off if you exceed 45km/h or 28 MPH and the range is up to 2km or 1.24 miles before the battery gets to a point where the ICE kicks in.

Well this makes no sense to me then. The current electric only mode works up to 41mph. Why would I want to install the EV mod if it only works up to 28mph?

It's only limited in its usefulness as the Prius utlizes a combination of both engines to obtain max MPG.
I've heard people use it to move the Prius short distances, such as in and out of the garage, around the block, and through parking lots. It's useful especially if power up your Prius from a cold start and only want to move it a short distance, since the ICE will turn on to start warming up the car. Yes, you can stay in EV mode without the mod in some of these situations if you go easy on the accelerator, read up on "warp stealth". However, it's easier to press on the button and not have to worry about the ICE kicking in. If you are talking about 41MPH you are probably confused or mistaken EV for "pulse and glide", since that's the stated limit for it.

Let's call it "EVb Mode" activated by the EV switch.
The EVb Mode is canceled when you're exceeding 28 mph, then you can keep electric only mode up to 41 mph.
The cancellation of EVb Mode does not mean starting the ICE immediately.

EVb mode actually goes up to 34mph on the US Prius.

Ah! I forget to mention that the EV manual was came from UK Prius.
UK people said it is 28 mph, but Japanese Prius goes up to 55 km/h same as US's.

No I am not confused as electric only mode can be sustained for up to 41 mph. I read about it on the forums and have doen it myself numerous times. The minute you hit 42 mph you can see on the MFD the ICE kit in and to confirm this you can also see the fuel mileage drop.

I've installed the Sigma EV mod on my 07 prius and it works. Thanks to all who posted info about this, it was a great help.
