Loud growl is usually bad wheel bearing but doesn't matter if the wheel is loose. I can't imagine how bad the bearing must be for the wheel to be loose. Starts out as wup wup and turns into growl.
Bad trans on these cars start with a ominous hum in the front end with it struggling to charge the hybrid battery. Whats the battery soc indicator looking like? Do you have big swings in battery energy?

Ok,that sounds more like a wheel brg. No there really is no bad hum and the battery is charging fast and staying between 60 and 80 most of the time.. It seems to get worse when you corner it so thats why I had thought wheel brg. or axle shaft. I put it up on jack stands and let it run but it obviously would not run very fast due to traction control.,but it still had a small growl coming from driver side of trans. Thanks for your help...
