07 whining/whirring sound from engine, transaxle issue?

    I maybe should have emphasized that the pump I meant in post #19 is not the inverter pump.

    There are four coolant pumps in a Gen 2 Prius, one belt driven and three electric.

    The one I'm suspecting is the one in the diagram here:
