0w-20 and 0w-16, way too thin. 5w-20 or 5w-30 instead?

The long 10,000 mile oil changes clog the rings leading to planned obsolescence. Typically starts to burn 1-2 quarts every 10k before the cars hit 100k miles and holds pretty even until like 150-200k when the car clogs the egr and blows the head gasket.

But the oil flush can effectively unclog the rings.

I did a piston ring soak instead on mine and got my oil consumption back down. Now I just change every 5000 miles to avoid clogging the rings. I burn around 10oz every 5k at 225k miles.

If you look at the oil range charts the car can run 0w-16 to 20w-50 depending on where you bought your gen 3 and temperatures.

*When i had clogged rings, 0w-40 burned the same amount as 0w-20. Not a large difference, just a small fuel economy bump.

Safe bet: Use whatever oil your heart desires if it agrees with the temp range and change every 5000 miles.

What mileage your 2012 Prius C had? never heard of one burning oil.
