Plug in americia article (and now a running counter)

PLUG IN AMERICA MARKS SALE OF 100,000 PLUG-IN VEHICLES

    With some interesting notes
    • The Volt is 38% of those sold.
    • Chevy Volt drivers alone have logged over 187-million electric miles
    • Over a quarter-million people are exposed daily to the benefits of electric transportation
    • Tesla's Model S is outselling the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the BMW 7 series and the Audi A8
    • The plug-in vehicle market is approaching 48 percent annual growth with both Battery Electric (BEV) and Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) vehicles finding growing interest
    • Plug-in vehicle adoption exceeds the adoption of hybrid vehicles over the same timeframe in their market development
    • Manufacturers making EVs now include Nissan, Tesla, GM, Ford, Honda, Mitsubishi, Toyota, BMW, Mercedes, and Fiat. These plug-in cars have received a wealth of consumer and industry awards

Its interesting to see how much higher the overall distribution over manufacturers is (compared to early hybrid days)

A drop in the bucket compared to ICE. Growth is impressive though.

Unfortunately, I believe it is higher do to the need of a compliance car for California. Which means the company might not be serious in their comitant, and don't care how the car does beyond meeting regulations.

Funny how the Volt got left out in the above statement:

Tesla posts first quarterly profit, surpassing Chevy Volt sales | Detroit Free Press | freep.com.

The 38% Volt claim, will surely be surpassed by Tesla. The Volts' numbers are small potatoes. Eyes and market analysts are on Tesla and the Leaf sales.

Tesla is a fine car and it does well. It looks like a Jaguar to me or is influenced by Jaguar.

Wonder if the Bradley GT will be a Contender?

Tesla growth, hopefully, will continue, if not accelerate in the near future.:)
