    Several companies are claiming 15 year calender life for the latest LiIon for automotive use.

    As for the high cost of the conversion, if AmberJac used 18650 batteries at $300 per kWh, the batteries for the conversion would cost only $2,700. The cost of LiIon in 18650 form continues to plummet, so there is no reason why larger LiIon batteries should not do the same. It won't be long before this is a $5k conversion, then $4k.... $3k.... $1,499 etc etc.
