Any issues getting this before 10000 miles as I will be at my dealer over the holidays? Also It will be over 6 months.

FWIW I got the 10K miles service on our 2016 Prius v Three early by about 200 miles so I could take off on another long road trip shortly there after. No issues at all at the dealer. I say just do it...

I believe if it is over the 6 months you are late for the service anyway.

i took my pip in at 5,000 miles for the free oil change and etc. the service guy balked, and i told him fine, i'll take it elsewhere. he said hold on, i'll talk to my manager. (i thought that was a sales tactic) came back and said they would do it.

With the US schedule, the first service interval is 6 months or 5,000 miles, not 10,000.

Correct me if I'm wrong. But wasn't it at 10K Toyota did the first free oil change?

Yeah, but I think they don't really mind if you push the first oil change earlier. You're entitled (in the US) to two free oil changes, whenever. I'm sure they'd rather stick to the schedule, but owners have been cajoling them to shift things around.

Call me cynical, but I believe the free 10K oil change to do with getting you back to the dealer. When I didn't show up for mine I got emails and phone calls for months. I'd like to here from others there experience with the free oil change.

We don't get any free maintenance in Canada. For third gen the main service, oil and filter change, is every 6 months or 8000 km's (roughly 5000 miles). I've done my own oil changes, with only one exception the 6 months governed, from the get go.

With the fourth gen I believe Canada has adopted the US interval for oil and filter change, ie: 12 months or 16,000 km's (10,000 miles). Nothing's stopping you setting your own interval though. For me, an hour or two chore every 6 months, and about $25 in supplies, is trivial, cheap insurance, and gives me something to do.

I wouldn't dream of driving a brand new engine 10,000 miles before changing the oil. I did my first oil change at 3,000 miles

Yes, 10K intervals after that until 90K and now I do 5K intervals. But it's mostly because I moved into a new home with an enclosed garage so it's very easy to change oil.

made an appointment online for a day or two out, drove to dealer, checked in, took loaner to dinner, went back to dealer, picked up car, went home.

My only issue on the two times I've went is for some reason Toyota apparently doesn't like giving out loaners?? No clue what that's about but after a minor amount of bitching I walk away with keys. I'm used to my jeep dealer just trading me keys when I walk in. Not sure why Toyota wants a song and dance first. They've never try to up sell me any service though.

You want a loaner car just for an oil change?

I would only expect loaner when the car's in for multiple days, typically bodywork.

Yeah, their competitors do it. I got better things to do than hang out there for however long they want to keep it. If they'd say 30 minutes like a quick lube joint then I'd be fine with it but even my 5k service they initially said 2 hours, that's with an appointment. So yeah sure if you need 2 hours to figure out how rotate the tires I'm not going to hang around there.
