I bought an Advanced, and the screen had nothing to do with it.

Well I love the large screen, it's so confortable! Don't make a decision without trying. It's great to have a big screen like that and no light problems with the night mode. Easier to see directions, letters, easier in all the way of the word.

It sounds like most people find the screen itself fine, but some are not so happy with the GUI system. Perhaps not surprising...

When you say "no light problems with the night mode," I'm guessing you're referring to the screen's matte finish causing light plumes? Just intuitively speaking, it would seem like night mode would make that worse rather than better. That is, the more light from the screen itself the better to overpower the reflection light plume. I'm largely speculating though; I'd have to try it, once my P.Prime finally arrives... :)

I think we Toyota drivers don't complain enough!
We are living in the smartphone age, they should update the system from time to time, but all they ever offer is an update of the maps !

    And that only occasionally...

Tesla of course does frequent updates like on a smartphone or tablet, but Toyota is too risk-averse for that sort of ... behavior.
