Got the 11.6 infotainment and it started to have few instances of rebooting. It would reboot shortly after the car is started. 2018 model. Canadian version, so there is no Entune, SOS, App, etc.

Only thing connected is Bluetooth to an iphone 7+, USB drive with mp3 files (quite a lot)

I have a lot of mp3 files in the USB drive, within the limitation specs, so not sure if the reboots are as a result of the initial indexing?

Not sure. I've merged your thread with the major one we have going on this topic.

We have the regular Prius with the 7" screen and it rebooted once or twice within the 1st year but hasn't since then. I know could be completely separate from the 11.6" screen's issue.

So far, we haven't solved it.

Just got back from the dealer and they are ordering a new head unit for me. I had to take video of the reboots to prove it to them which is annoying but whatever. I hope this will fix my daily reboot problems.

I briefly got a glimpse of the title bar right before the infotainment rebooted. It said something like "Updating USB ..." something like that.

So I think somehow the system needs to purge the index every so often and reindex the USB. I think sometimes this process would reboot the system.

I have around 2,700 songs in the USB and I sanitized it so the only files are .mp3 and file folders, nothing else.

2017 Prime Advanced, built August 2017, 12,221 miles. In the last two weeks, my 11.6" screen has started rebooting. When it does, it's usually several times in an hour or so. It happens when I'm connected with BT and NOTHING plugged into the USB port. The phone has no physical connection to the car or Qi pad. I connect with a Samsung S6, Marshmallow 7.0. Note, I went 11,000 miles with the same setup with no reboots. It also started rebooting before the Entune Update push came out last week.

I took it into the dealer this morning. explained the issue, told them there is a TSB and provided the number. They looked at it for an hour and handed it back saying all your software/firmware is up to date and there's nothing we can do. I said, sure there is, replace the head unit. They looked shocked and said, "SIR, there's a process here. We wont replaced the head unit until you've brought it back in several times with the same problem. It's a software issue, not a hardware issue."

OK, you Sones E Beaches. I told them I'd be calling Toyota Corp and I will. Somehow, I didn't expect a fix when I went in. I guess I read their mind. I still love the vehicle even with this irritation.

PS, my Toyota Customer Care case number ends in 666. Figures!

Had my first screen freeze today. No phone attached (or bluetoothed), but with USB music. I didn't notice until I thought the space between songs was far too long. Froze the map too.

That's how mine started, freeze-ups. Took 11,000 miles to start doing it.

I had mine replaced a month ago and had one reboot since. However, I think the wife had her purse on the Audio button and it rebooted the system but I'm not sure. Anyway , one reboot is a lot better than the 2-6 everyday on the first HU.

Before everyone runs to the dealer, mine was built in Aug 2017 and already has the software that TSB: T-SB-0236-17 refers to as a fix. I asked the specifically to check that TSB.

    TSB: T-SB-0236-17 was issued Aug 15, 2017.

Thanks but my May 30th visit to the dealer (post #87) still yielded the same result. My Prime Advanced built in Aug 2017 already has the software version this TSB provides.

I have an '18 made if I recall in August maybe it was July. Canadian version w/ 11.6 inch display. Technology Upgrade trim. I have put very few KM on the car around 1600ish, had it two months. I have an iPhone paired, and a dash cam usb power cable plugged into the usb port.

I have had 2 reboots while driving of the infotainment system. Both times it came back on just fine but I can confirm power is cut to the usb port while the reboot occurs. I know this because my dashcam makes distinct tones when powered up or powered down. It made the power off sound during both reboots, and made the power on sound when it came back.

Upon both reboots the XM Radio came back to the same channel no problem. However if I went to presets and chose another channel to listen to it would switch to FM and some default 89.1 FM maybe not 89.1 exact but I think that was it. I just get static, and then choose source, and preset I want and it works.

Not a deal breaker, I fracking love this car... But very odd and annoying. All this talk about USB Connections perhaps I'll use a powerbank for a while... I have a couple 20000mah ones that power it for almost a day a piece. Very VERY strange and mildly annoying.

But compared to others in this thread perhaps I haven't gotten it that rough.

I have found that if you don't use the USB connection, the rebooting stops completely. That's what I've done on my Prime... I use a cigarette outlet USB adapter with my iPhone cable. Charges faster than the stock USB port and it's way more stable.

    Not ideal...

Canadian models has an update that fixes the reboot.

The USB in the Prime is not meant for power. So if it is drawing more power than necessary, it will reboot the infotainment system. For example, USB 3.0 storage devices or iphone connection.

Yes, thank you! I have been trying to explain why this is such a big deal to me when I’ve brought it into the dealer. Just using BT is ignoring the real problem which is I want my uncompressed music to shine on the JBL audio (i mean seriously, the JBL audio in this car with uncompressed tunes through USB is nothing short of phenomenal). They keep blaming my phone but that is a load of crap. Ive started down the repair path so I’ll keep you all posted.

This is simply excuse making on their part and their best attempt to save face on an oversight on their part. My 2015 Honda Odyssey can handle it no problem. This is unacceptable and they know it too.
