2010-2011 Toyota installed Prius radios with 8 speakers (Nav and non-Nav) are the JBL sourced systems and use their amp.

That is my understanding based on what I have learned here.

I haven't decided on what brand of cameras to purchase. I am thinking it may be best (in my case) to purchase it together so that I have one point of contact and no finger pointing in the event of problems. While I don't anticipate problems, should one arise, I don't want to hear that I shouldn't have purchase X because it has compatibility issues with our unit.

I think a bundled package from one seller (Chen) that has a proven track record of support at this forum would give me the best possible chance for a successful installation. This unit is going on my wife's car and therefore, it must work properly.. "Happy Wife, Happy Life"

I am not familiar with the HU in question, but know the Toyota system enough and know about Kenwood and Pioneer interfacing. The limited access and info on (Chen) leads me to think it's just another Chinese knock off HU...but if it works so be it.

The only complain I have with my Kenwood DDX 418 is that the reverse camera doesn't work until the HU has fully booted up (usually after I have already back out)

and yes, this HU is another Chinese knock-off and I am fine with that.

@Jaydoc .. Mine has a model number 51882 on the face of the unit.. Is yours the same?
The model number should be stenciled on the front factory head unit.

    @gamma742

Yes, my radio model number is mentioned as 51882 on the front.

Also, I read on this thread that the vendor that Chen works for has the unit priced at almost twice the price compared to other vendors. Have they lowered the price again? Any links?

I am also doing this to help my wife drive the Prius, which is why I want everything to go well. Agree with your theory about the "happy wife"..!

You may be right.. but I don't see how Chen can be selling any unit at those prices from the original links from this thread.. Pumpkin is another that can be purchased on eBay for a reasonable price.. But that's when people were getting incorrect or incomplete wiring kits.

I'm thinking that at minimum, I would want the higher resolution unit 1024 x 600 and possibly Quad Core CPU. 16 GB of RAM would be preferred over the standard 8GB but I don't know if this is needed on an Android Car Stereo OS or not. Canbus is a must for us, as we have the JBL System.

I'm looking closely at this one:

2din Android Autoradio Bluetooth for Toyota Prius 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 Car DVD Radio Audio Stereo GPS Navigation-in Car DVD from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

It is priced at $305.99 Plus Shipping.. $57.29 for a total of $363.28
    _____________________________________________________
    Must have:

    Canbus decoder, $25.00
    _____________________________________________________
    Then for consideration:

HD 1024x600 Pixel Touch Screen, $30.00
Quad Core, 16GB Flash memory, $30.00

Based on my emails with the pumpkin-auto vendor 1) They claim to have the KD-Z00010 canbus in their store and want $40 for it. 2) hey don't have 16 GB memory. I would rather have a unit with all the bells and whistles. One advantage with buying the Pumpkin unit seems to be that they do seem to have an upgrade path available to Android 5.0 (its either already available or in the works). But I am also becoming more interested in better hardware options than future software upgrades.

So, yes, the link in your post does look like the better option at this time. Aliexpress has this 11.11 sale where its discounted to 275$ and then another $15 off. Seems like a good time to buy.

Seems like a really good time to purchase.. I am assuming that 11.11 is the month and day of the sale end? (11/11/2015)

Looking at the photos in the link, I am unable to see the color of the backlit buttons. I would like to be sure that they are green or green capable. I was able to find this information but it sounds a little sketchy with a disclaimer note at the end..

"8 Panel light colors, You can setup hundreds of colors via RGB Combination."
Note: Some models can not support RGB element/Lights color adjusting, please note this before place order, The real object should be considered as final. Or contact us."

I don't think my wife would be happy with ...say, Blue backlit buttons?

The original poster sent Eric Chen the following information:

"To be absolutely sure he would send me the right "plug and play" plugs, I sent him:
-Photos of my Model No. for the 2011 Prius Two, no JBL,
-What the back of the radio looks like,
    -The car plugs,
    -Color of dashboard bezel,
    -Green color lighting buttons."

In the photos at the beginning of this thread show his buttons are "Backlit in Green" and it looks very nice (factory look).

I will try to remove the OEM head unit to look at the back of the unit and compare with the pics of the Android unit in your link. Changing the colors should not be a problem, I think.

I think what you will find is 4 connectors connected to your HU. The Link shows 3 connectors, I believe the missing connector is for the Canbus.

I could not get a picture of the back of my own unit, since the lighting was inadequate, but it looked exactly lie this picture from a listing of a similar unit on ebay.

Is this 4 connectors or 3?

Edit: I ended up buying a head unit from a store called Kanor on Aliexpress for $380 shipped. I also got a rearview camera and a set of trim removal tools for around $20.

Will update this thread about how my installation goes.

I also got a HU from Kanor on 11-20-15. I got mine for the same price. Have you received your unit?

Have you installed it? Did you get the 4 or 3 connectors? Did you have any issues? How do you like the KANOR HU?

I have not yet installed it. I got them to send me both the 3 and 4 connectors. The unit looks good, and was packaged well. However, I want to flash the HU with a custom ROM from XDA and am still looking into how to do it.

I have received and installed the KANOR HU. I used the 3 connectors and it is partially (80%) working. None of the steering controlls are working. They failed to send me the 4 connector, but it's on it's way. I also flashed the HU with update_4_4_4_1024X600_9_RK3188_MAL_02_12_2015 from Malaysk. This ROM is a lot better than the stock ROM. I can't test the tuner becasue I don't have the antenna adaptor. The ELM327 OBD II adaptor works very well. My factory BU camera is not setup yet.

    @clroxas

Since I have the JBL audio I am trying to figure out which of these 3 connectors I need to use. There is also a pic of the back of my car's radio. Can you help? I want to install the radio tomorrow.

    Thanks

I am not sure because mine is a non-JBL. I would guess you would need the one with the PAC (the right most). The connectors cannot go in the wrong way anyway.

@Sergiospl and @clroxas... Thanks. A few more questions so I can get this right.

I am confused about some of the connectors that don't have any corresponding connections on the back of the head unit. I have attached a picture. Specifically,

    1. I think the Blue square connector is for satellite radio? Is that right?
    2. The smaller white connector that has no corresponding connections on the new unit is probably for the auxiliary port under the cars hand rest?

So those two connections will be lost?

    3. I assume the long silver plug is the radio antenna that goes into the android units Radio port?

    4. Also, I know the reverse wire is for the backup cam. What about the brake-in, Amp-con and ILUMI wires? Where do they plug or splice into?

    Thanks.
