I replaced my 12V in a 2007 Prius with a Bosch sold by Pep Boys. This was in 12/2017 and 30K miles ago. They ran some sort of sale and it ended up costing around $140 installed a the store by them. So far so good. Just another data point.

RUN! Don't walk away from that mechanic. That is the most preposterous thing I have ever heard. 12V battery can not possibly "fry" your hybrid battery. They are only connected via Inverter/Converter and it goes FROM inverter/converter TO the 12V, not the other way. If it "fried" anything, which is ludicrous, it would have been the inverter/converter part that is responsible for charging the 12V battery. I can not for the life of me see how this idea could have even emerge from a mouth/mind of a car mechanic. Perhaps you did not understand him correctly. It's just nonsense!

Thanks Bisco. It would be nice to see a sharp photo of any labels on the battery top.

OK, that is good proof the battery is worth the premium price.

Thanks for moving the bracket. Great photos, I had to click on a photo to get the high res version displayed on my phone.

I haven’t bought gas in 3 weeks or 1100 miles:).

I thoroughly enjoy what the Prime delivers ;).

But it’s about $3.30 for regular for non Chevron stations(y).

What is the incremental cost on your electrical bill associated with keeping the battery charged? I recall marginal kWh pricing is pretty high in CA...

    I’ve got solar panels ;):

    A4CDF89C-A08E-4FF8-8AD1-A166BB526497.jpeg

PG&E paid me for power last year:).

That was before the Prime, but if I’ve figured it correctly, I’ll owe them about $100 this year. I think the rate is something like $0.21-$0.25 per.

I also charge at work which helps emensely with reduce gas consumption. And they don’t make me pay for the electrons there(y).
