Recent 3 min video. Anyone know the advantage of Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) vs our original lead acid 12v battery?

Current Summit Racing website has $169.99 listed for this AGM battery.

Thanks. AGM pros/cons vs. our OEM 12v batteries?

No acid fumes released in normal operation.
Generally less prone to "damage" with a significant discharge.
Usually has a longer life in most any vehicle or situation.
    Overall a better battery.

Might want to visit Battery University.

    $169? Isn't OEM higher?

I forgot to put the insulator coat around my new 12volt when I installed it too. I was more concerned with making sure the body ground connections behind the 12volt were both removable and cleaned.
My original 12 volt shorted out at the cell next to the positive post. A week later when I tested the cells again this time the cell closest to the negative post was shorted. One of these days I'll understand batteries, I hope...

While on paper superior to flooded cell, AGM-cell quality varies. The ACDelco AGM could be OK.

For Gen 5, the trunk-installed battery needs to have a vent hole for the exhaust-tube connection; so, check to see if that's the case. Walmart carries EverStart Maxx 140R/H4/LN1 with a vent hole.

oem is OEM if that mean anything to anyone
AGM is newer tech, less electrolyte because of the glass mats between each plate in the cell, almost if not completely leak proof. maintenance free, but you can still add electrolytic if you know how (not anything like adding to a flooded battery.

bonus: AGM is better than gel too. although gel is a similar concept to the glass mat in that it suspends the electrolyte along the plate walls better than flooded, I'd still rather than flooded than gel. (personal preference).
