Since it is just a hybrid, not a plug-in, there won't be any state or fed incentives. Being a first-year model and the only model of this class, I doubt there will be any big manufactures' rebates or other offers. The final price will be substantially higher than what I can get for a brand new Prius Prime but should be very close or a tad cheaper than the base model of Leaf with all the incentives applied. If this price tag holds true, it should be much more affordable than another Ford I am thinking of, Escape Plug-In.

Finding standard cab pick ups of any size is hard for anyone not a fleet buyer.
Ford already sells that on the F150 hybrid. Those were more popular with tradesmen for worksites even when the old Ranger was around. Putting it on the Maverick would mean two different systems for the hybrid and the ICE model, that adds to production costs, in addition to parts costs for the hybrid.

The tailgate is multi-position, so it can support plywood at the rear. For drywall, it'll need a plywood sheet for support.

In addition to the tie downs, the bed has pockets for using lumber as dividers, or making a raised floor. Need to get the XLT to bed the fancy bed though.

Hyundai already has one coming out.

The EPA estimates for the Maverick are 40 city/33 highway/37 combined to the rav4h's 40/36/38. The bed hurts aero, but a tonneau cover will help there if that is a concern. Ford is saying this can tow a little more without needing AWD. So starts about $6000 cheaper.

Most are going to be the XLT for the extra features. Since it's FWD, it most likely is a power-split like the Escape's. But the Maverick page is using CVT to the Escape's eCVT, so a parallel hybrid can't be ruled out. The F150 and Explorer are parallel RWD systems.

My question is if Ford will price the 2L Ecoboost the same as the hybrid of the same trim? They did that with the Lincoln Fusion twin, but I expect it not to happen.
Video on the Maverick page showing that.

Hmm..I priced a base model out with the fancy hard bed liner ( a $300 something option ).

Nope...the Ecoboost is more than the hybrid...just priced it out.

I think you need to spend some time looking at the build configurator on the Ford site. (y)

What does the Ecoboost option do and how does it work? It's more than $1K option for more power. Does it reduce fuel efficiency?

Ecobust is a bad idea for winter short trippers and equally bad for spirited driving MPG

Ford has been silent on the non-hybrid MPG

You are guaranteed the the city MPG is much lower (unless a stick option is there)

The highway could be similarish if Ford specs everything correctly

The Ecoboost is the non hybrid option.

So, EcoBoost® Engine is a pure gas engine without any battery?

Wow, then this is the first car (truck) model I have heard that hybrid cost less than non-hybrid.

The last and only Ford I ever owned was Taurus. Can't remember what year that was. Probably early 1990s. The only reason I bought that car was that it was a 6 seater. Yes, it had a front bench seat with middle seating and gear on the steering wheel column.

I can't remember spending too much on Taurus, both at purchase and after owning it. It was a sedan, but very spacious. Ended up giving it to my oldest son for his college. He drove it until it fell apart, so must have run over 10 years. I can't remember ever driving any other Ford in my life even though my brother-in-law is a big Ford truck fan and that's all he and my sister drives.

Doug DeMuro has a pretty nifty video out ( and it shows the engine compartment ) :

BTW - the model in the video is the XLT ( mid range ).

    Where's the EGR?...haha. (y)

The $300 option is a bed divider, which is likely something like this.

In the few photos without a bed liner, the nooks for 2x4's and 2x6's can be seen in the sheet metal. The photo was from the Flexbed section though. The XL doesn't get the Flexbed, and only has the usual 4 tie downs. Need to get the XLT for the Flexbed and extra 6 tie downs. Also have to upgrade to get cruise control.

Figured Ford was cutting the margins on the hybrid to get the low MSRP. Confusing how they made the 2L have a separate base price in the configurator. Means the the AWD option is really about $1000 less if you already have the 2L chosen.

    Some nice non-grey colors there.
It produces more power, and much more torque than the hybrid. With the tow package, it has double the tow rating of the hybrid. Which puts it around where my Ranger with the 3L V6 was.

The 2000lbs of the hybrid is plenty for most people, and it might work with my future plans, but you can't get AWD with the hybrid. It's a common practice of Ford's to not allow AWD with the base engine even if it isn't an issue of power.

The ICE has an 8 speed auto.

Had a 1996 Taurus from new to over 130k miles. Nearly every issue it had could likely be traced to damage from being rear ended in the first week of ownership.

Our Sable was a 2001, but the rust was becoming an issue after 17 years when we donated it.

The 2020 Fusion is still up on Ford's site for those that want one. I'm guessing there is still plenty on dealer lots with the pandemic.

Yes, there is a $300 bed divider kit option for this truck, but no photo.
I think he is talking about a $375 Bedliner- Hard Drop-in.

Wrong...the divider is a separate option.

Geez man...like I said, spend some time with the configurator...it's not that hard. (y)
