    Well, the worst has been confirmed. Matt from texas hybrid batteries spoke with me extensively today, and hes 100% sure its my hybrid battery starting to fail. :cry:

    Seeing as how i bought the car just 1 month ago, and have already invested another $500 into it since then, Ive been just about cleaned out and theres no way i can afford even a refurbished hv battery(950 w/ free installation). Im stuck with a car that drives for now, but will one day, inevitably, come to a screeching hault. The "warranty" the car lot promised me is utter bullsh*t, and they refuse to do anything about it. F*cking pieces of indecent, self-righteous, greedy, lead-worthy.... Ill stop that right there, but i just dont understand how anyone can knowingly sabotage another human beings entire livelihood. I have 2 small children and a husband whos' health issues havnt allowed him to work in 3 years. Im the sole provider, and we barely scrape by. I used my entire tax return to buy a reliableel car for me and my family because our 2004 with 250,000 miles on it was reaching the end of its road. And what do i get? A completely selfish mother f****r who took all my money, gave me a not so reliable car, and wrote me off. I feel very defeated, and hopeless.

    Blaaaaah, im done venting. :(

    If there are some longer-term PC members near DFW to check the usuals (LadyLock is real person, has Prius, not a scammer sitting in the bed of his F150, situation as described, etc.), I'd chip in some for the battery fund. It'd be ideal to get within range of a new one (or a new 2k1Toaster one, I guess the prices are comparable now) to avoid having to be dependent on a refurb.

    ... provided the overall condition of the car merits the investment. The bone-dry-on-oil part would concern me. Compression test?

    That’s horrible ladyluck. I feel very bad for you. We are all here to help people. We all spend lot of time trying to warn people of unscrupulous pos like this. We see this a lot.
    Start a crowdfund. I’ll throw in $20 to start.

    Sometimes @TMR-JWAP has decent batteries available for low cost. He is thorough in his testing.

    @2k1Toaster ’s kits were backordered until sometime in April. That month starts tomorrow.

    There's a consumer watchdog columnist at the Dallas Morning News who should be contacted about this scam artist. I'll look into that.

    Wow, the level of commraderie among the members on here has blown me away. Never seen anything like it among (essentially) strangers. Breath of fresh air, for sure.

    Technically, I haven't met Matt, yet. Only spoke over the phone, just so no-one feels misled in anyway. Supposed to meet up with him this weekend sometime, so he can hook up to my Pri and see what she's got to tell us.

    And i have no objections as far as proving my legitimate existence. Matter-of-factly, it might be nice to meet some locals. Originally Im from the east coast (Wilmington, North Carolina), but my husband was born and raised in Arlington. You don't think about it as a kid because it comes as second nature, but making friends isn't as easy in adulthood.

    Thank you Pilotgrrl, thats a much appreciated resource I'll definitely be looking into.
