Does it mean 1 jack stand has a capacity to hold the weight of 2.25 tons?

Or does it mean 2 jack stands have a total holding capacity of 2.25 or total of 4.50 tons?

The nearest auto shop only has the 2.25 low profile lift and jack stand as a set; no ramps in store. I will just need to install the rear sway bar, reason I ask.

    Thank you.

It's a common question. It means that together they can hold 2.25 tons.

^ What Pluggo said. It’s an extension of the thought that jackstands must always be used in pairs. Lift the front, the back, or the whole car. Each pair of stands is good for the printed rating.
