I think the 17's will kill FE. I did a 30 mile jaunt yesterday and drove between 80 and 85, some hills and only got 45 mpg:mad:

I worked today to bring the avg back up to 49 so far on this tank.:)

I'm glad I got the V. I would have never liked anything else long term.

I've been averaging over 65 MPG for my work commute (22.1 miles to work, 22.9 going home from work). I think the MPGs you will get has more to do with the driving terrain and your driving style than the tire size. The handling of my V has been the most surprising thing about the car. It isn't my STi or S4, but it is A LOT closer than I could have ever hoped for.

From person to person that is true but for the same person and the same car the difference is definately measurable. I've done it many times.

You think I would be getting much higher than 68 MPG with the 15 inch tires? Even so, the handling of the V is worth a small MPG loss to me.

I am questioning the reality of you even gettting a true 68mpg. 10+ Miles downhill at 100mpg or P&G doesn't count either. ;)

Please see my thread in the economy section regarding errors between MID MPG and hand calculated MPG over many tanks.

I have 550 miles on this (first) tank with 1 non flashing pip left (just clicked from 2 to 1 right before I got home), with 58 miles to empty on the MFD. I won't know what that works out to until I fill up, but I will easily get over 600 miles on the tank. Time will tell.....

I'll keep track of the hand calculated MPG vs. MFD and will post on your thread in the economy section after a few tanks.

Thanks mate. :) I hope it is just a weird bug and that the car is not way overestimating MPG. :(

I agree with you on the 17s though. They are worth a few less MPG if you enjoy a sportier feel, especially if you are over 50+mpg already anyway. :)
