I bought a 2002 Prius with a new (refurbished?) hv battery that was installed like this week. It was $3,800 total, 140k miles, and no other issues, was that a fair deal? Car fax looks clear, only issues are foggy headlights and a slight dent on the top of the car. Also, I want to do a 700 mile road trip to check out Yellowstone national park, and would like some feedback on what I should check or change. This is my first car since the old Buick I drove around as a teenager, so any advice would be great.
Welcome to the forum. There are a lot of folks in the group who provide sage advice so you are in the right place - I have learned a lot reading old and new posts which has helped as I DIY my old 2002. To me $3800 seems like a fair price for a 2002 with such low miles - mine has 232,000 About heading to Yellowstone I would join AAA and head out. Just be aware that you are not going to get as good of gas mileage on the freeway or when you cross the Cascades - Enjoy - I love my little Prius
Thank you for the welcome!! I'm really excited about this. I didn't realize how smoothly and quietly priuses drove! It's convinced me to make my next car a prius too. Also, good call on joining AAA, I never would have thought about it.
AAA is an old car drivers friend - always nice to have that extra security and you can often get discounts at hotel and restaurants if you are a AAA member - plus they provide dmv services
