    Hi everyone,

I have searched previous threads and haven't found one that seems to fit our problem. We have a 2004 Prius and we are second owners. We have had it for 6 months and it has 120k miles. It ran perfectly fine up until yesterday. We woke up to find the passenger door open and it had been rummaged through. No problem, nothing was taken. However, the car was dead and wouldn't start. We jumped the car and it didn't work. We charged the batteries overnight and the car still won't start.

The headlights and dome lights work perfectly and are bright. The doors lock and unlock quickly. The car shows when the doors are open and when the key fob is inserted. However, when we try to start the car, no other lights on the dashboard will turn on, just utter silence. I checked the 15A AM2 fuse as per a previous thread and it is intact, I even tried the spare, no dice. There is plenty of gas in the car as well.

We don't know what the issue could be! We are looking at the starter in a little bit to test that. Any suggestions on what to do? If we can't source the problem we'll take it to a dealer but we're hoping we could find the issue.

there is no starter. i would still test the 12v and connections, idk how the battery could hold up to an open door.
i wonder if the thieves cut a wire somewhere?

is the cat intact? take a peak under the car.

do the brake lights come on when you step on the pedal?

    fob battery healthy?

The battery was dead when we found the car. So, we charged the back battery over night and it was completely charged but still wouldn't start. We ended up testing all of the fuses and then restarted the car and it started up... So, we don't know what happened except that now it works and possibly a fuse is going bad/was out of place?

sounds like it was out of place, but no idea how that could happen.
