My 2005 Prius was working quite fine until few days ago when the dash lit up with ABS, Check Engine, red triangle, ((!)), and the red car symbol on MFD. Additionally, the hybrid battery fan now comes on once in a while. Mileage on car is 164K; changed the 12v and hybrid batteries at about 153K. Running it through codes scanners, the following codes were read off it:

    * B1421 (Solar Circuit malfunction, passenger side. Also, AC malfunction [although on the car, the AC still seems to work fine])
    * P3000 (Hybrid control fault, and cruise control error)
*C2318 (Low voltage error-power supply malfunction)

I have checked 12V status using the diagnostic mode this morning and found it to be 12.0V (although 2 days ago when I checked it was 11.8V.)
I have not used the car since as I wouldn't want it park up by the roadside. I'm scarred to think its the hybrid battery again... For now, the car still moves well.. Please what should I check to confirm real cause(s) of all these?

12 volt battery. pull it, test it, charge it, test it, replace if necessary.

How long ago was the 12v battery replaced? 11.8 and 12v are both low, a fully charged 12v should actually be about 12.6v.

12V was replaced around June 2014. Replaced with the yellow top Optimum battery.

If you have a rebuilt hv battery, that should be your problem

Will look into charging it. Only constraint's that I only have the commercial battery charger available at the nearby workshop. I understand the Prius 12v doesn't have to be charged the same way. So, will need to read up on this to get it right.
JC, that would be a big one for us that's why we're trying to find out if there are other checks we need to undertake to fix this.

Your 12v battery is not that bad, using the diagnostic mode in the car will drop the voltage reading from the actual resting voltage. So if you're reading 12v, it's probably around 12.4v or something.

That is not the cause of your problem.

It was a dorman battery, bought through one of theIr online resalers....fcpeuro.com( although they are no longer carrying Toyota parts again).

If you bought a Dorman Rebuilt, then you have a 3 year warranty on it. The end result may not be so bad afterall.

One more thing l noticed: when l started the car this morning, l realised the ICE wouldn't cut off even when battery charging indicator stopped on the MFD (battery was charged to about 6 bars on the indicator)
The ICE would still continue running, until the battery would go down and recharging recommenced.

Yea, l need to reƧheck that warranty if it's applicable here- we aren't in the US so l need to cross check if it covers overseas clients. Thanks for highlighting this.
