I've had my new (to me) '05 Prius for about a week now and I've gone crazy trying to figure out how to use these inputs. No mention of it anywhere in the manual or online. Can someone help me out? Picture is attached.

My '07 has those inputs in the console and I thought that's where they are located on all Gen 2 Prii. Is it possible the previous owner was lacking the factory version and had them custom installed?

Hi Dave - thanks for the quick reply. It's very possible this happened, but I see nowhere in the dash or radio for me to select USB or AUX. Just a CD/FM/AM, unless I am being very obtuse.

I am not 100 percent sure, but I don't think any '05s came with Aux input. The add on units I have seen run the Aux through the CD input. You have to select CD without a CD in the slot, then the Aux cord should work. Of course that depends on who setup your install.

Do you know how the previous owner put that in the car? I really want the USB in my gen 2.

No idea! I just lucked into this and thought it was standard equipment when I got the car. After hours of googling with no answers, I thought I would ask here. I wouldn't even know who could do such a thing.

You scored! It even looks stock and it's in the perfect place where I place my phone in the cupholders

I had got this exact aux input added to my old 2005. This is from Best Buy. It works with the FM radio. It's basically a hard wired in radio station. You never have to deal with any signal static. I can't remember what station you tune it to. I think it's like 88.7 or something. It should already be on the present on the touch screen. Just make sure the power switch is on and tune in and enjoy!

I tried an FM USB transmitter from Best Buy like 8 years ago and it never worked well. Too much static. It was the kind that was ugly and plugged into the 12V with a long wire. I returned it.

It's hard wired in. No static.

Do you know how much $ it would be to hardwire?

Everything parts and labor and the geek squad, it's around $150 I believe. I might be more now. It's been a couple of years. Both my old Prius and my sisters old Prius got this done to them.
