My husband was driving the 2005 when it stalled, he pulled over and it wouldn't start. Checked under hood and found broken belt, had it towed to local shop, they said water pump was bad, replaced both. Now it won't start. Jumped 12v, still won't start. Lights come on, but not READY light. Won't shift, etc. He disconnected 12v and waited a few minutes then reconnected. It started, shifted, backed out of repair bay and died. Wouldn't start again. Only 1 bar on traction battery. The 12v was replaced about 2 months ago.

Any ideas what this could be?

How many miles on the odometer?

Exactly what warning lights appear? Take a sharp photo of all warning lights and icons, and post.

How far did your husband drive the car after the engine high temp warning light came on? If he did not immediately stop, the engine may have been permanently damaged by the failure of the engine cooling system.

    191,000 miles.

Can't take a picture cause now it's totally dead. The service guy at the dealership said it was probably the new 12v which is still under waranty so taking it to them today. I guess thats it cause now even the door locks and lights don't work.

I don't know if the high temp light came on at all, but when it stalled he pulled over. It didn't seem to be overheated.

they might not have tightened the connections properly, or it could just be bad.

Odd that it would be bad after 2 months in service. Lead acid batteries are usually DOA or will last a few years if they are going to die early. That's for a starting battery - the Prius battery doesn't get nearly the stress of a starting battery. When I replaced my Prius' lead-acid battery a few months ago the first one that arrived was DOA...
