A low 12v can easily make false error codes appear.

The 12v battery must be confirmed good first.

For $100 it would have been nice if they would have checked the 12v. But if not you can do it yourself or head over to autozone.

I'd be happy to walk you through the steps of checking it out. Else do a search here on PriusChat.

12 V is not good. Should be at least 12.6. The 14V reading, I assume is with the car in ready mode and that just shows you that the charging system is functioning.

Probably, but I recommend using a load tester like at auto zone before throwing money at it.

When did you last change the 12v auxiliary battery?

You have 233K+ miles on this vehicle already, how long has it been in your family?

Do you have records of the previous maintenance performed?

12v batteries generally last 3-6 years on these vehicles.

Let's try to keep things in order here.....please.
I would have said that BEFORE you told us that you paid somebody to do a "diagnostic".
What were the results of that......and what did they recommend as a result ??

Auto Zone claims to do the tests for free so I guess it couldn't hurt.

Edit: But if the vehicle really has over 200K miles on it, all bets are off and it could be almost anything.

Did you ever get it checked out at Autozone? Do you still have a problem with your Prius?

Ok, lets start from the beginning.. how many miles on this vehicle and do you have any service history for it?

Did you drive or tow it to the dealer/mechanic for this $100 "diagnostics"?

The POAA7 code trumps the other codes.

The car is detecting a high voltage leak. Either comes from bad ac compressor or usually highly corroded hybrid battery buybar interconnect
Or very very rarely a blown electric motor winding. If winding you will know as the car will have bad shudder when driving.

99% of the time is from highly corroded bussbar interconnect which is conducting. Evan a tiny amount of ground current detected will throw that nag.

Assuming u can wrench Take the back of the car aprt to access the hybrid battery. Take the orange interlock switch out of that battery it's on the drivers side of the case, take hybrid battery cover off. Look at corrosion.

Replace the hybrid battery. Go to hybridautomotive.com and you will find installation pictures for there charger. Good instructions there in how to take the back of the car aprt.

    Btw,
Concerning a high volt leak you are able to reset the car by clearing the codes. You can drive till it detects another leak and it will then throw the codes again and go into limp mode.

Usually if it's throwing a voltage leak the battery itself is just worn out too. You may have have noticed very poor battery performance prior to this.
But if just a leak you can reset the car yourself by disconnecting the 12 volt battery negative cable. That will clear the codes.

Go to luscousgarage.com and read there blogs. They talk a lot about cabbies who reset there cars constantly. But eventually the battery itself fails.
