When was the last time the car operated correctly without any warning lights on?

What does "starter" mean in your first sentence?

Are there error lights on the dash?
Did you correctly reseat the orange safety plug in the HV battery? It is a 3 step process ending with sliding the handles downwards.

i replaced the high voltage battery about 1 year ago. without any issue. Approximately 1 month ago the "red triangle" and associated lights and codes returned. i contacted the the parts people that had supplied the replacement battery and they had another Dorman battery shipped in. i replaced the battery expecting that order had been returned to my universe, however when i tried to start the prius the engine attempted to start and then there was an audible pop from behind me and then nothing. i replaced the 12v battery for good measure and re-installed the still operational " coding" battery without success. The start button is pushed and all the lights come on and when i depress the brake pedal and push the the start button a second it just turns off.

Did you install the orange safety plug on the hv battery correctly?

What code did you get to determine battery was at fault?
