2006 navigation DVD upgrade

    Hi-

    I see a lot of sellers of navigation DVD upgrade for my newly purchases 2006 Prius. Some say it's only valid for 2004 and 2005. Does that makes sense?

    This one is listed for $10 so I think it's a no brainer simple upgrade even if I use Google M aps most of the time anyways.

    How do I evaluate this further?

    it isn't legal to resell them, so we are not allowed to discuss it here. a trip to the dealer is your only (and most expensive) option.

    Why?

    I can understand if you are referring to pirated copies, but why would it be illegal if you were selling a genuine set of Nav DVDs? For example your old set when you purchased the latest version for yourself?

    Just wondering.

    no idea. it's a licensing thing i guess, like software.

    If you sell the whole shebang lock, stock and barrel, the license transfers. Can't see the issue.

    try reporting this thread to the mods and asking for clarification. maybe i'm way off base. i just recall them locking previous threads, but i might be mistaken.

    I assume some end up for sale as cars get totaled or stripped down for parts. I was hoping to get advice on how they are labeled, which is compatible with which, etc.
