Actually with used batteries it depends on the care in matching and reconditioning too.

It is better not to need to use it though.

Was there a reason why you didn't use HomeTown Hybrids? : Hybrid Car Battery Repair & Replacement | Hometown Hybrids

They have both new genuine OEM Toyota batteries and in-house used rebuilts.

Rebuilt at $995 with 1 year/25k mile warranty, or NEW Toyota $2,399 with 3 year/75k mile

Both include free installation in the greater Houston area (or travel fee if not), or free shipping anywhere in the USA.

I had come across their website and glanced at it before but didn’t really know which places stood out and the not being local factored into my decision. In hindsight, i probably would have gone with Hometown since it looks like they make mobile appts to San Antonio and I could get a new battery near what I’ll pay for remanufactured.

It really amazes me that place should like hometown and texashybrid can sell OEM battieries cheaper than a dealership, you would think they have more buying power but idk.

    You'll be fine with Cardone.
They are a large, well-established aftermarket supplier of parts for mechanics.
Look in just about any parts store in America and you'll see Cardone parts for a variety of applications.

Great news, shop got the battery in today and had some time to knock it out for me. Getting her back today instead of Monday! Yes!!!
Although, I was gonna call him Monday and ask that they to inspect cooling fan but now that they already did it, I doubt that they did.
I see its kind of off to the side, is that task of checking and cleaning the cooling fan relatively easy? Like 5/10 DIY difficulty? Already ordered the little makeshift filter I saw in another thread to block the dog hair from getting in there...so will be putting that in.

More like 3/10 if not lower.
Hardest part is removing the trim piece.

the brake actuator will be the next big ticket repair, expect 3200 from the dealer.

Good to know, have you gone through that already and compared at a dealer vs alternatives? I definitely would go with this shop I used again and not the dealer.

I think the actuators go bad when you perform a brake fluid change. If you don't mess with the brake fluid, chances are, the actuator will not go bad

yes mine was replaced under an extended warranty program toyota had but it ended last year, it has nothing to do with changing brake fluid, just bad parts.. the service manager told me it would cost 3400 bucks and my 2008 isnt worth 3 grand trade in.. its a dealer only item as far as i know and you need the correct computer program to bleed the brakes so the dealer is the only option i guess

my brake fluid wasnt changed so it has nothing to do with the pump failing.. just worn out parts on a 12 year old car. parts that cost more then the trade in value of the car

I believe there was a TSB issued to tell dealers not to flush the brake fluid, because that's the cause of the failures.

But with any mechanical part, age would kill it

So brake actuators go out, only Toyota can perform the repair? I feel like if you can replace the battery elsewhere you should be able to replace brake actuators unless its like you mentioned, only Toyota has the program to properly bleed the brakes. That doesn't seem proprietary to me though.
