    Hello everyone
Recently purchased a 2006 prius w/ 152,000 miles on it. Im currently getting the "red triangle of death." I was told to check the Hybrid battery cells with a multimeter and replace any cell that read below 7.2v. Well after locating and replacing one bad cell that read 6.8 , ive got the battery back into the car successfully however the triangle is still bright red on my dashboard. The codes that pop up are as followed: P0852, C1241, C1310.
If anyone can help me figure this out I would greatly appreciate it. ;)

    welcome!
if you plan on keeping the car and diy, i would recommend tech stream software and a subscription to the online service manual.
the battery needs to be load tested to determine the bad cells.

    Welcome to Prius Chat (y).

    Some questions:

    • What is the 12 volt battery charge showing after sitting overnight?
    • Have you ever had any issues with the car going into park after pressing the P button?
    • When replacing the module in the battery, did you do any other work while in there like cleaning bus bars?
    • What did you Torque the harness to for the module you replaced?
    Keep us posted (y).

    Check your 12v battery voltage.
Charge up your 12v battery if needed.

Did you leave the 12v hooked up when you changed the HV battery?

As well as checking the 12 V battery and charging up as/if required you may have a "P" position switch malfunction.

DTCs P0851 and P0852 indicate P position switch malfunctions. DTC P0851-579 indicates "short to ground" and P0852-580 indicates "open" or "short to +B".

    The detection condition is:
DTC No. Detection Item DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area Master Warning Light MIL Memory
1 P0852-580 Park / Neutral Switch Input Circuit High Open or +B short in P position switch circuit
    • Wire harness or connector
    • P position switch
    • HV control ECU
    Comes on - DTC stored

I have attached the inspection procedure.

    Hope that helps.

    1. The 12v battery still shows 12v on the multimeter
    2. I have had a problem with the car going into park after hitting the "P" button. The only way im able to get it into park is by simply turning the car off.
    3. I did not do anything else besides remove the HV battery, test the cells, and replace the bad one.
    4. Honestly not sure my friend.
    Thanks for your response

Thank you so much for this, definitely helpful. Could this be the cause of the red triangle?

    Yes.
Car cannot properly start if 12v battery is too low.
Then the car throws the red triangle to warn you.
