I have looked at a bunch of threads and am wondering if anyone can look at my results. I ran this on Aux, but has been driven within last 24 hours, maybe I should do another one tomorrow after sitting? The main batttery (which was replaced within the last 4 months is the one that seems off more than anything, ouch.) The check engine light is also showing now, but the only code showing in Torque Pro is the P0a80. I read someone else's post that said the main battery could cause the code also?

The check engine light is usually emission related. It's not really associated with the main battery if it's the only warning light on.

Did you get your main battery from the dealer?

You should get another app like Dr Prius or Hybrid Assistant (your OBD2 adapter may or may not work with these). Either should be able to pull INF sub codes for the hybrid system. With more information you can figure out what your next step should be.

If there is a fault with the hybrid drive then the check engine light (and sometimes the brake/VSC warning lights as well- but only to call attention to the hybrid fault (so no engine codes).

Sorry for the delay in response, I didn't see anyone had replied till now.

I'm the original owner of the car. It currently has 170k miles..
The next day all warning lights cleared, but it wouldn't recognize obdII for some reason then. Took to a shop, I was asking about reconditioning since he has the Prolog battery system. I was told I have 4 bad blocks, wants me to buy new battery, claims someone else changed their mind on it after he ordered it, wants me to pay shipping. I don't think that I should pay the shipping if someone else ordered it and changed their mind. He didn't explain why obdII stopped working or answer other questions regarding general status of car and if worth it. He also said would wave the $165 charge if I chose to have the work done, but sent an quote with that charge there still.

Sorry for the delay in response, I didn't figure out how to get back to my post and thought that I'd get a notification of reply like other forums do.

I have the Elm327 should I get another type or will that work with this adapter? As I mentioned to another user, I took it to a shop, felt very uncomfortable with the transaction, here's what happened..(see reply to JC91006) I also had specifically asked if there was some kind of short causing the failure of the OBD2, it didn't work the week before and after testing the fuses started working, but as it was raining and I already had an appointment for a shop i didn't try to get it working. I'd also had other issues that seem to be some kind of short (my driver's side headlight goes out about once a year, as I know how to replace it I just do that.) I'm hoping to have it run for a few more years, don't want to put a ton of money in to get that as I can use either my Escape or Ram2500, it also needs new tires and sensors.

I've had this issue where my ODBII wouldn't work at times, I haven't really found the reason for this.

Are you in So. Cal? There are lots of specialists in CA and if you list your location, some members can recommend shops they've had good experiences with (where they don't rip you off). I think it's not right for someone to charge you shipping for an item someone cancelled. They should be happy you are even buying it and taking off their hands

Go look at the Dr Prius site, there is a page there dedicated to various OBD2 adapters that will work with that app (or with Hybrid Assistant). Short form is a generic ELM327 will work with something like Torque to communicate with the engine ecu, but it usually won't work for the HV battery ecu with Dr Prius or Hybrid Assistant.

Thanks for the reply, glad to hear I'm not the only one, with the intermittant issue with the port, I was concerned about a possible short.

Also, I'm glad to hear it doesn't seem reasonable to ask for me to pay for the shipping, it just felt wrong.

I'm in No. Cal, I got the name of Sturken because of them having the Prologue system and it seemed that from other sources that reconditioning might be an option, I thought of purchasing the equipment but wanted to verify before buying something that might not help that it was worth it. Now I'm more confused than before! Going to talk with them about the car today,, either end up putting in new battery or walking away and looking elsewhere. I'm very handy and could install myself, but for a reasonable cost would just have it installed.

    Thanks again, Nancy
