My Prius was running great. Started it up 6 times this morning. Took it in to have the oil changed, ok. Went to Costco to get the tires rotated and when they tried to start it, it just would not turn on. Had 3 different AAA guys try to jump it. said the battery showed full charge but it would not start. Had it towed to Longo's for diagnosis. It has been great up until now. Minimal maintenance. Still has the original brakes at 122K. Good quality.

Good luck, hope it turns out to be a minor (under $1000) problem.

Ever had the 12 volt battery changed? If not, it's likely it's bad.

The 12 volt on a Prius does NOT start the ICE (internal combustion engine) so you'll never experience symptoms such as slow cranking or starter being unable to turn the ICE.

As for why I wouldn't turn on when being jumped, don't know.

Scenario 1: oil overfill has caused P3191. Does the engine turn over at all?
Scenario 2: CostCo guys messed up, discharged the 12V, did a reverse polarity jump, fried something, and now the car is quite dead.

There is a way to check your 12V battery voltage using the MFD. Look it up otherwise check it with a volt meter. I still have the original 12V batery in my 2005. Voltage shows it is good (so far).

$1,000 per year is cheaper than a new car. ;)

Or the oil change monkey didn't install the drain plug correctly. *Always* wait a few minutes with the car off, then check the oil level yourself before driving away from every oil change. Doing this can save a lot of grief.
