Just came back to my 06 to find its cat stolen while parked at a hotel. I am serious when I say 96k miles (or thereabouts. It may be 92 or 98k, can’t recall)

    1) is it as impossible and expensive to find a cat in CA?

    2) any interested takers? I have loved this car since I purchased it new but I am also ready for its replacement and this may be a sign. I clearly don’t drive much so can sustain a while!

    Sorry for your loss.
What is your price? Have you replaced the hybrid battery?

No -- have not seen much degradation, same mileage for the past ten years or so (40s). I never really got to 50 MPG ever.

I do not have a price. Name one?

Price depends on a lot of variables. I've seen cars with missing cats for sale ranging from $1000 - $4000. That's what they were listed for so I have no clue what they actually sold for. SLO is somewhat isolated so you're not going to have the same number of buyers as, say, LA.

yeah what I was thinking. Must be a better potential option than the insane CARB requirements, though I don’t know what a non-CA-approved cat costs.

I did not know there were two 06 variants. This was bought in Feb 2006. I cannot recall exact combo but this has nav, VSC, CD changer, rear cam, etc — it was the “premium” package back in the day.

And sorry will get pics later. Did not want to drive it home last night without earplugs — and not until I dispensed with all of my shame.

The non-California $120 cat made by the big company that sells on eBay they make cats that sell in all the states except California I have one on an 05 right outside my door that's had no problems since it got installed on the car and that's about what I expected to pay hell for my Corollas they only cost $80 I think it's marked $5,000 and under I don't know where all of a sudden this $1,800 for a Prius cat just fell out of the sky from even if you go to Toyota and buy the cat from a Corolla and weld it in place it'll still have the Toyota markings on the cat itself I'm not like I say I'm no California emissions expert but it all sounds real shady to me

They're ya go 2500 unseen. That's what folks are up against every gen 2 out they're someone looking 2500 plus no matter. Never had any battery service etc . I watch folks buy these . And then never see again . Why because people are embarrassed that they paying 3500K for a car that all the lites lit up on the way home he he . I call this ignorantly stuck . Took to big a bite of that he hates he did not know was being served. . serves ya right. Weeks later I see car at local salvage yards I peruse regularly. Or better yet they called me . Stoopid is as Stoopid does. They never learn .

If I were a little closer I'd counter JC's offer.
If the car was at all mobile before the catnapping, $2500 would be a great buy.
