2007 Prius 10 year or 150,000 mile hybrid battery warranty (whichever comes first)

I asked the dealer and was told the same: 8 year, 100k mile hybrid battery warranty.

My emails went unanswered after purchase (to be expected).

Where did you buy? Will these extra years and miles apply to us?

 

The HV battery is warranted for 10yr/150K miles in CA and states that adopt similar emission standard.
Read the following copied out from Toyota eBrochure for CA.

Basic: 36 months/36,000 miles (all components other than normal wear and maintenance items).
Hybrid-Related Component Coverage: Hybrid-related components, including the HV battery, battery control module, hybrid control module and
inverter with converter, are covered for 8 years/100,000 miles. The HV battery may have longer coverage under emissions warranty. Refer to
applicable Owner's Warranty Information booklet for details.
....
California Emission Control Coverage: In California and any other state that adopts California emission warranty provisions, defect and performance
warranty is 15 years/150,000 miles. The Hybrid Vehicle Battery is warranted for 10 years/150,000 miles.

 

Ceric is correct. To the OP, you'll see that the warranty booklet that came w/your car confirms this.

2001 Battery Warranty for Original Owner Only?

anybody here have any info if 01 still has warranty on hybrid battery even if you aren't orig owner? I'm 3rd owner to a '01 and am told by MDR, CA dealer that I don't have a hybrid battery warranty. Seeing various threads here makes me wonder if that's true. I just brought it in for $800 worth of sensor cleaning, air filter and master sensor replacement and new computer key, and now told I need a new $3700 battery too! An additional $400+ will come later when I'm told I'll need to replace a cable attaching my horn to the steering column which was once a recall. I'm not having a good month$!

if you do indeed need a new traction battery, i've seen a few on ebay in the 400-800 dollar range, usually used, but still a cheap, gently used battery is better than a 3700k new one. check ebaymotors. ie, search ebaymotors for "prius battery, i got 10 results, some rediculously expensive. alternatively if there's a way to test individual cells, you can buy those for 50 dollars on ebaymotors.

 

i have found most toyota salesmen don't know crap about priuses. the last time i went to the dealer (a couple months ago) no one knew about the 2010 being a different body style or anything about it. i guess maybe since they sell themselves so much most salesmen dont bother learning how to sell them.

Classic Prius (2001 - 2003 model years) have an 8 year/100K mile warranty on the traction battery.

A salvage battery is a reasonable alternative; however the 2G battery (w/ 28 modules) is not the same as the Classic battery (w/ 38 modules.) So you'll need to look for a battery from a 2001-2003 vehicle, and you'll find that the pricing is generally much higher than for 2G - while the Classic salvage batteries are much older and have more miles logged.

Another possibility (for the advanced DIYer who can deal with high voltage) is to buy two 2G batteries (for ~$800-$1,000 total) which will yield 56 modules. Remove 38 modules from the two batteries and install in the Classic battery case. However you'll have to figure out how to equalize the state of charge across those modules or you'll end up with a traction battery fault code.

 

Ditto!!!!! I was at a dealer a week ago. He new almost nothing about a car that's going to be out in about 10 to 12 weeks.

 

The warranty would drop down to 8 years / 100K miles. The longer warranty is only in effect if the car was originally sold, licensed, and operated in a CARB state.

 

What if the car is purchased in a state not under the California standards and than resold in California? Is the warranty transferable for 2004-current Prii? Does anybody have a link to the California law so that I can confirm this beyond a doubt?
