I am new to the Prius world, and about an hour and a half from me is a 2007 Prius with 155k miles and they are asking $1,200 for it. However, it's dead as it sits. Local Toyota dealer said it needed a new 12v battery and a brake actuator. That's a 3k job at a dealer, but I can get a battery online for $150. I found a dealer nearby that would do the actuator for 2300. Assuming nothing else is wrong with the car, would it still be worth the money? The actuator and hybrid battery seem to be the main things that can go wrong. The hybrid battery seems ok still.

Learning about this actuator issue has made me skeptical now about buying any used Prius before 2012 when it seems they finally worked that problem out. These cars are cheap used, but insanely expensive if you need to fix something it seems.

    Welcome to PRIUSchat !!

How long had it been sitting, as the HV battery could have gone south by now.

And if it hasn’t, it will. But then you’ll be good for another 100k.
