    I don't have Megger, can I use any insulation tester up to 1000v?

    The Megger people would probably rather not have me say megger generically, but I think that ship sailed a while ago, along with band-aids and kleenex.

    Sure, if you have, ahem, an instrument of that nature, and you know how to use it safely, that's what counts.
