I’m confident they know what “core charge” means. :)

OK That's what I'm talking about! I guess it pays to get out of New York State:

Over the phone he said this is the installed price:

email from Williams Toyota in Sayre, PA:
As requested, Replacement hybrid battery estimate $2350.00+ tax. (tax is 6%) The warranty on this component is 3 years unlimited mileage.

God price installed. You will still probably have to front a 1350 core deposit on top of that. Ask them about it.

I actually asked him that and he said they wouldn't charge me that upfront unless I wanted the old battery back.

WOW, I have never heard anyone here say that before. That’s great.

I know...I feel like I should be suspicious of that price. I'm trying to get him to respond in writing that it's OEM, not refurb or salvaged.

Right. But it would be from one beautiful place to another.

Actually, I live very close to 2K1Toaster, so if I ever need a new battery. I'll track him down and pick one up.

Then why only a 6 month warranty?

There will never (or there shouldn't be) a core charge, say if a dealership is doing the swap. They have the old battery from the get-go.

And for 1600 you can get a brand new set of battery’s that will last at least 10 years.

Are you able to peek into the battery and post some module serial numbers?

Are you able to use Hybrid Assistant/Hybrid Reporter apps to do a load test of the battery and post the results and discharge graphs? Those apps are free and work with android. You just need a OBD/bluetooth adapter.

I hope to drive a different car by then, Napa sells em around that price, where can you get a 1600$ new battery? just curious, I mulled it in my head, and 200k out of 2 refurb batteries versus a new battery it was kind of just cheaper is better at that point, I only drive like 12,000 miles a year I work close by. for me its ok for now. I am trying to keep the battery more charged now, by turning off gadgets a miles from my house, so keep it very charged when I park it, it seems in the green all the time even when its cold as hell out, I think the spark plugs make a huge difference. not because I am factually driven in saying that, but just out of philosophy for having a good running car, and from blurbs of what I've read about it, would make sense that old plugs would use alot of extra battery juice to operate hence ruining your battery. but thanx for those tips.

If your time is free, then sure. You'll be replacing it almost immediately.

All good, if it works out that way. We've heard many a story where people are calling on the warranty every 6 months – if they can find the vendor. That's why we don't recommend rebuilds.
