I got my 2008 Prius in 2009 with 27k miles. Since then, I have it in to the dealer about 4 times to address recall items, the HID headlight issue, and a couple of check engine lights. I change the engine and cabin filters myself as needed and have regular oil changes and the tires rotated and balanced every 6k miles.

After reading the many posts here, these are the items I think I'm hearing I need to have done now:

    1) clean/adjust rear brakes
    2) drain & refill transaxle fluid
    3) drain & refill both engine and inverter coolant
    4) pcv replacement
    5) replace spark plugs

I've attached my service invoices for the major stuff that's been done. On some things, the wording is different than what's talked about here. Are there things on my list that have already been done but I don't recognize it because they call it something else?

Also, my extended warranty will expire at 125k miles. Is there anything I should have them check for before the warranty expires? I know I shouldn't go looking for trouble, but just thought there might be something that you guys might know of.

Lastly, when I do take my car in, is it best to go in with my list and say this is what I want done or should I let them do a multi-point inspection and see what they come up with?

you should have your shocks and struts checked before the warranty expires. those run in the thousands to replace.

Thanks JC91006! I'll add it to the list. I didn't realize shocks & struts would be covered by the xtnded warranty.

On your list of things, at 100k, I would only do the transaxle fluid and the coolant. You can also clean the throttle body and MAF sensor while you're at it. The spark plugs are rated at 120k miles and even that is quite early for the iridium plugs. You can change the PCV valve the same time you do the plugs, but this is not necessary unless you have issues.

As for the shocks and struts, wait til around 120k miles (or towards the end of the time frame limit) to have them inspected. Unless you notice a problem now, you still have another 25k miles on your warranty, no rush on this one.

Looks like you had the Coolant control valve replaced so they replaced the engine coolant and they also cleaned the throttle body so I would do the Inverter Coolant (easy) and change the trans fluid.

The Engine coolant lasts forever and see's little wear but the Inverter Coolant takes a beating what with the huge cross section of pure aluminum it has to circulate through.

Don't bother with the plugs or the pvc. Best part of the Prius is its low maintenance. Only thing the dealer has ever done to my car was the rear brake service as it was very reasonable. $59.99 iirc. Other than that and recalls they haven't done a thing.

For 100k service, would you guys recommend exchanging the brake fluid?

    Appreciate the help.
