I have a 2008 Prius that isn't starting. I charged the 12v for a few hours on the battery charger, it had good voltage. I took it to NAPA and they tested it and said it was fine. I bought it new in late 2015.

When I turn it on, everything works (lights, radio, etc,) but the READY light does not come on. Also, several dash lights come on (see photos) and the power button's light is red. The car will only shift into neutral. It is also giving error codes P2118, P0A4C, and P0A4D.

This vehicle had electrical issues in late 2015, around the time I bought the battery. After a couple weeks in the shop, they found that the "bus bar" in the fuse box was blown.

Any ideas what could be going on before I take it to the shop? Any ideas are appreciated :)

That all points to an issue with the motor of resolver. You need to look at the connection on the outside of the transmission case where the wiring harness connects to the motor position sensor. They have been known to fill up with water or get corroded

Did you replace the "buss bar", which is called the fusible link? Did the car start after that?

Yes, they replaced it in late 2015 when they found the problem with it and the car has been fine ever since.

Did you ever replace the 12v battery in 2015 or prior to 2015?

What led to the car not starting this time around? Dead Battery? Did someone try to jump start the car?

Yes the 12v was replaced in 2015. I tried to start the car like normal yesterday after coming home from being on vacation for a week.

If you went on vacation for a week, the battery should not have drained that quickly if it's a 2015 battery.

Do you have any interior lights? Headlights?

Yes, all the lights (interior, head/tail, and brakes,) come on. I tried charging just to see because it seems (from what I've read) the 12v can cause a lot of issues!

Are there any evidence of rodent damage? wires being chewed on?

I would suggest you check all your fuses but this just seems odd the car was fine and then won't start.

Did you by chance mess with the Orange interlock switch on the Hybrid battery?

After reading another thread, I checked to make sure it was secure, but didn't mess with it.

How did you do that? Was it ever removed?

I just looked at it, but didn't mess with it; I still had the cover off in the hatch from taking the 12v to have it tested.

This was all after I was already having the problem with the car.

I'm going to take it in tomorrow and have it checked. I'll post an update when I find something out. Thank you both so much for all the help!

You may have initially had a drained 12v battery, then you messed with the interlock switch without locking it back in place. After you charged the 12v, the car still won't start because the interlock is not locked into place.

Check post #16 for the locking procedure.
