I have a 2010 Prius that I have had for almost 2 years. I love the car, but one of my biggest irritations is that the center console lid slides back and forth. Is the latch supposed to keep it in the forward position ? Is there a post on how to fix it here ? I would love to see pics of what I'm going to be up against before taking it apart. Thanks.

There's more than one position for the center console lid?

There is a lever under the front edge of the sliding cover. It most certainly should "catch" and prevent sliding when the cover is all the way forward.

I actually have a spare center console. I like the design of the 2012-2015 console better and was able to get a good deal on one from a junk yard. I would sell it to you but you would have to pay shipping which might not be worth it.

Here is a document that includes instruction on how to remove and re-install the console from the vehicle:

Now I'm curious. What does the newer console have? Maybe instead of spending money fixing this, i should do the same.

They did away with the sliding cover, made it shorter so the cup holder is permanently exposed. The cover opens up, not by sliding back. Looks better too. Mine has a tan cover matching my interior. The base is identical, so it fits perfectly.

Mine has two cup holders and doesn't slide. Must have been a change at some point within the Gen3 model years.

Look at the picture above. There are 2 cup holders and no slide. That began with the 2012 model year. Yours should look like the picture.
