Changed my mind... too many opinions on here and too few options for what I am looking for. I decided I will just buy local instead. Sorry for the inconvenience of this thread.

Let's clarify a couple of things so that you have reasonable expectations in your search for a pre-owned Prius.
First, your understanding that a modified Prius sells for LESS than an unmodified one is not exactly correct. A more correct statement is that Prius owners (or any car/truck owners) that modify their rides should not expect to recoup the costs of their modifications.

    For example
You upgrade your Prius (or any other vehicle) from stock 15" wheels to 18"ers. You can spend anywhere from a couple hundred dollars on Craigslist or you can buy some diamond studded Bling Meisters to star in your own music video for a few THOUSAND dollars. When you go to sell your Prius to either a dealer or a private party sale, those wheels will add exactly ZERO value to your tride UNLESS the private party buyer wants THOSE EXACT wheels.
You see, everyone want to mod their ride their way. The $10 grand in body kit, wheels, suspension, turbo charger and leopard skin seats will likely be REMOVED by the new owner, unless it's exactly what they were looking for. To a buyer, what they see is the vehicle underneath the mods - most people don't care about the mods at all. The caveat again, is UNLESS your mods are the exact mods that the new owner are looking to install.
It is true that the WRONG mods MAY drop the value of your ride -the afore mentioned leopard seats come to mind. If they are seat covers and can be easily removed - no harm no foul. If they are custom, one-off, endangered animal leather seats, the new owner may have to SPEND money to have them removed and recovered in something a bit more mainstream, in which case he (or the dealer) will deduct the cost of setting the car back to 'normal' from your asking price.

For proof of this, search any forum in which a member is selling their tricked out (fill in the blank). They usually post their ride and all of their mods (and costs) and then put up a price trying to recoup maybe 1/2 the cost of the mods. Their USED car plus mods is usually more than the price of that same car NEW, with no mods. There's the rub. Why buy a car used with mods that you know you may or may not like when you can buy new and install what you want?
The seller's car, unless really agressively priced, will languish on the forum until he starts dropping the price. Pretty soon, the members that do like his mods start offering him money FOR THE MODS - not the car and the seller realizes that
    1. No one wants his car as-is at his asking price
    2. Everyone wants his mods at a substantial discount from new (they are used at this point)
The seller at this point starts to respond to the offers for mads and he starts to sell those mods and put the stock stuff back on the car. Each successful mod sale results in a new lower asking prcie for the car with a new, shorter list of remaining mods. At some point, the car does sell, but rarely exactly as it was originally posted.
The smart sellers get the most return by restoring theior cars to stock and selling the mods seperately and individually.

Getting back to your search for a modded Prius.
If you think that you are going to find someone who has spent $1500 - $5000 on modiying their car only to sell it to you for LESS than the same used car without mods, you are in for a disappointing car search
On the other hand, if you are willing to pay someone a bit MORE than than the value of stock Prius, you may find get a nice set of wheels and tires and a maybe a cold air intake for a fraction of what they would cost new.

Not trying to rain on your parade - just don't want to see you with unreasonable expectations.

    Good luck on your search.

You may not be alone, but you are definitely in the minority.

I first thought you where kidding with your OP, but I see that you actually believe that those mods will decrease the value of the car. Yep, I am with the others: Good luck on that one.
Just check Edmunds or KBB and see how different options increase the value of the vehicle. Take an example of where you installed a NAV system in a Prius that never had NAV. Run the numbers with and without and you'll see the point I am making.:)

We all know that some modification aren't likely to increase the value at all. http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-prius-modifications/106723-ugliest-prius.html#post1519923 :D

Ugh. Whatever. It doesn't really matter now anyways. This thread has gotten crapped on with folks opinions instead of the topic, which is looking for a 2010 modified prius. I'll just look elsewhere. Doubtful I'd get one from here anyways.

You all have your opinions, the same as I have mine. Your points have been made. I wont be checking back. i'll just buy locally.

Now, now. No need to get huffy. You kind of took the first dump in your OP. When you lead with your chin like that you are going to get dinged. Good luck (really) in finding what you want. :)

PriusChat: 2010 Modified Prius IV - Possibly For Sale (by TunerzineJason)
    http://priuschat.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1434718
I'm not 100% decided on whether or not I'll sell the Prius, but I figured I'd post it up to see if anyone is interested and if I get what I'm looking for I'd gladly part ways with it. It's a 2010 Blizzard White Prius IV with Solar/Navi with 12,000 or so miles on it. The car has the following mods: Full Aimgain body kit from Japan (includes rear spoiler, Lexus LS exhaust finishers powdercoated black and LED lights) Full Wraptivo matte white wrap with carbon white accents HKS coilovers HKS intake Work Wheels Meister 3-piece in custom gold/bronze finish 18x8 with Falken FK-452s DDM Tuning HIDs in the headlights and foglights Custom interior by Infinite Auto Design - suede/leather Genuine JDM mirror covers w/ turn signals, window visors [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] Car is basically in mint condition. I'm asking $31k firm, located in So Cal. If anyone is interested, please shoot me a PM. Sale of the vehicle would include all stock parts including suspension, front and rear bumpers and side skirts, stock intake as well as a set of TEIN H.Tech springs if you don't want coilovers.
