Newbie here, currently in discussion with dealer to buy a Prius before the end of the month. Matrix and Tacoma owner.

    Two questions:
    1) I've heard that people who have rigged earlier Prius models to be plugged in at night get much better gas mileage because they can start off each day with a fully charged battery. Has anyone done this with a 2010? Results? Opinions?

    2) Since the Prius has a 'generator', can I sell my little emergency houseold generator and use the car as back-up power for the house in a pinch?

    Thanks!!

    1. The Enginer kit is the one one that currently works in the 2010. From what I understand the new version of the kit is pretty much plug and play now.

    2. Using the 12v source expect only about 1000 watts from a pure sine wave inverter.
