We had our first big snowfall last night, and i decided to take the Prius out for some practice. I have to say that i was impressed. Even with the stock tires the car had no problem getting through. I am going to buy some winter tires to help shorten the stoping distance. :)

I also decided to see how the stability control worked since this is my first car with that feature.

Are your stock tires the Michelin Pilots? That's what we got.

Snow tires will make a big difference. Same stock tires as you: we went with 195/65R15 Michelin X-Ice Xi2 on Corolla black steel rim p/n: 42611-02471, no problems with fit, and they feel very good, and best mileage to date, on our very near-new Prius. Obviously alloy's look nicer, but...

    Nice pics/videos.

I wish my Prius had Stability Control. Isn't it amazing?!

Looks like someone was having way too much fun in a parking lot :thumb:

We took ours out today in the snow and slushie. I could only get the yellow warning a couple of times. :p

Ours did great in 3" of new snow today (our first of the season), with the stock Yokohama tires and excellent traction control. It climbed hills quite nicely. I'm impressed!

I was impressed w/ mine last winter. Until it got to the point where ground clearance stopped her dead, there was little problem. Nice pics/vids!

Mine came with the Toyo Tires. I will be buying some snow tires soon. As to what tires they will be, i haven't decided yet. Stoping distance on the Toyos was way to long for me to feel safe.

I understand how you feel. My Prius turned into a snow plow in some areas.

I've got an 08 with snow tires & VSC. When I was thinking of buying the car I thought VSC was a joke, but since I bought it, I'm really glad I have it. VSC works great.

This is super awesome. As you know, I had a 2010, but now have a 2007. I wonder how my Gen.II will drive in the snow. By the way RadarGuy, LOVE the sandy beach metallic V with ATP. I have a 2010 blizzard pearl V with ATP in my household. I don't drive it much though. Anyways, keep up the good videos!

    Nice.

Snow is always a problem here (there aren't any snow ploughs in the county) and i've been apprehensive about how the prius will perform. looks like it should be a doddle.

I wish my 2004 had the same performance. With "all season" tires it would be completely helpless, but at least shod with aggressive studded snow tires, it could hold its own

Man it looked like you got pretty darn close to that light post in one of those runs. Good to see you having some fun though in the snow. Makes me feel a little better about going up to the mountains this year in my Prius

My Prius was not really up to Monday evening's conditions, but I blame it entirely on the tires -- OEM Ecopias with two summers and 22k miles of wear. ABS and TC did extremely well with what traction the tires provided. This, plus some patience, left me with a better shape than the median Puget Sound commuter.

Today, with a bit of sand, salt, and sublimation, was much better.
