2011 nav system buttons are not working

I recently had to replace the touch screen on my 2011 jbl nav screen. I had to remove the system to do this. When I put it back in, the touch screen works fine. And I can control many of the system functions from the buttons on the steering wheel. But none of the buttons on the nav system worked after I reinstalled.

Is there some setup or initialization procedure that I need to do? I don't think I did anything to the connectors for the buttons.
