    Hi Everybody,, great site, btw!

I am in the market for a new Prius and need some help with cost.

A local dealer has a Blizzard 2011 Prius II for $24700.00. (unfortunately, there isn't much local here :( ) I'd rather have Black, but all they have is Barcelona Red, and the Blizzard has to be brought in.

    This includes:
    $220 - special color
$200 - floor and cargo mats
    $760 - destination charge.

Anybody know how much wiggle room I have to deal? I want to do this ASAP-- as in, the next day or two, so any help would be wonderful!

I can get a Prius III Blizzard for $25,6 with mats, bumper applique, and door sill. I would rather install a separate double-din stereo with iPod controls, bluetooth, GPS ($800), and slap my MB Quartz Mid and Tweets in.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

    John

It's kind of a supply/demand issue, here in LA, that can be had for close to 22K even, note, I'm not including tax and other state fees.

wow, as low as $22K? nice. Yah, I seriously doubt I'll be able to get it that low down here. hmmmmmm

And just for clarification-- the ONLY difference between the II and III is the stereo system/speakers, yes?

That is about 1.7K more than I paid 2.5 years ago. I would say at the moment, that is an OK deal.

Might get better towards the end of the year to make room for my12

OK, they actually have a white prius II in stock right now-- with floor and cargo mats, rear bumper applique, and door still-- he said he'll honor the $24,7 price.

    Time to negotiate now..

Also, any Toyota purchased from here includes "2-Years/25,000-Miles FREE Maintenance and FREE Roadside Assistance!"

Welcome Johhhn. The Toyota Care program is national.

Complimentary Maintenance Plan - Toyota Care

For 2011, the Three includes the upgraded stereo w/ 6 disk (v single) CD player, speakers, and bluetooth. Buying a Three also allows you to buy other options such as the solar roof and navigation. These options are not available on the Two.

Price seems a bit high per truecar.com which shows a little over 24k for a II in your area. Check out truecar.com for your area which will show you the best prices.

Also, a difference between the II and III is the stereo as well as bluetooth / hands free.

I bought one last month in the bay area,CA for $23K. In fact another dealer contacted me a week after I bought offering it for 22K. I keep getting calls/emails from dealer(I contacted) still about having good deals as 2012 models are coming out in October.

If you can, you may want to wait until 12 models are out to get a good deal.

Wow,, sounds like areas where the Prius is saturated, you definitely get the better deal.

I'm going to offer $22,5 tomorrow and see what happens. Hopefully it's not to much of a lowball!

if you look on truecar.com the lowest price a dealer offers in phoenix, AZ is 22,597 so you are not really that much off. if they say that price is impossible, you could always say that you found a dealer that sells it for that much and you wouldn't be lying.

edit: just saw your location, not anywhere close to AZ

If you can't get a good deal, wait if you can. Supplies are rising and it's coming closer to the end of the 2011 model year so you should be able to get significantly better deals with more time. This is especially true since the 2012 Prius will add some things to the 2 and 3. (I know 2: backup camera, DRLs, 3: 3 SKS, Entune). The differences should help depress 2011 prices at model year end.

The only downside with waiting, besides gas consumption costs, is that as supplies of new cars rise and gas prices decrease (I don't know how your prices are) should also see some lowering of used car prices. So, if you'll be selling your current ride, you might find that your net cost will be lower. But, with the economy as weak as it is used cars are unlikely to drop too far.

    Well, That didn't work.

    Hmmmmmm

    Buy out of state?

So,, that makes sense, but if I can get it $2K less in So. Cal, are there any good reasons not to fly down and pick it up?

Several people on this forum have traveled out of state to pick up a vehicle.

At the stealership getting a Prius 3 blizzard with cargo and floor mats, rear appliqué and led door sill thing for 25,995 which includes tax, license and documentation.

Would have cost about $700 to ship it here, or about $500 to fly and pick it up.

    Thoughts?
