100 miles today the car ran like a champ only weird noise was exhaust. I think I need to replace the exhaust manifold gasket. Everything else was great. Dashboard says 55.9 mpg I drove mix of street and highway.

You don't need to use it slavishly, but I kinda like it, for aforementioned wheel lug nuts, spark plugs, oil filters, drain bolts, intake manifold, throttle body, EGR components, I mean why not, lol.

You do hear horror stories: more than one report here, someone used a torque wrench on the ignition coil hold-down bolt (purely a light-duty, locator bolt, really no need for torque wrench), but mis-read the inch-pound torque spec as foot-pounds, and snapped the head right off the bolt. Which leaves you with a fun extraction problem.

Oh I would agree it's nice to know things are tight enough.
On a similar note I cringe when I see people do things like use a battery operated ratchet on spark plugs. I mean I might after the initial loosening. Too easily you can break those.
I guess I'm just lazy with using a torque wrench.
I got them. I've checked my guesses and my guess is usually pretty good.
That is if I actually put the wrench on the lugnuts .

I checked mine earlier today and found they must have been set correctly (I set my torque-wrench to 80ftp and there was just a little bit of "give" on each one as I snugged it up! (y))

Ouch! but to me that indicates a sad, lack of experience! Surely the size of the nut would have been a give-away? o_O

Well, now they are over tightened.

I get my tires at walfart. I watch them do the work. There are 2, maybe 3 guys that will
do a good job balancing them. Only 1 of them knows how to correctly use the torque wrench.
Everyone else bounced it. Then the next to bounce even harder.:mad::mad: Idiots!
After I get home and have let the wheels cool off for a few hours, I loosen all 20 lug nuts
    and torque them correctly.

I just gave up on finding someone that will do the right thing. So, I do it myself.
I only wished I had a tire machine and balancing machine.

Tires are so simple, leads me to be like Wth is going on with the young. They are so incompetent and or stupid.

Almost without fail when I get new tires I give them off-the-car rims. Get all-seasons when the snows are on the car, and vice versa. Some places are more on-the-ball than others, but who knows. You'd think they could knock a dollar or two off the install charge for loose rims, but never happens. S'okay.

When you go in to get tires with install, maybe put a bit of masking tape with lug nut torque noted, on the dash or windshield? They might appreciate, having to look up so many specs. Or they need to verify anyways. At least it'll make them cognizant you know the torque, might check them, and leave lousy feedback if they just slam them on.

And take the old valve caps; save them.

I've watched Costco do the final torque; they just go 'round in order, no star-pattern. Not so good?

After you'd changed a few hundred tires, replaced brakes, suspension parts, axels, etc.
You learn how to correctly torque wheel lugs. (y)

Some of the workers at some of these shops surely have done a few hundred, and yet ....

It's like the old band question: does practice make perfect? Or does perfect practice make perfect?

Some learn to correctly torque wheel lugs.

Others become equally convinced that the way they've been doing it is correct.

…and don't forget, failing to practice is practicing to fail!

Almost 900 miles everything is all good with the 2014 transmission in 2011.

    When does it vibrate/noise
Car stoped engine is running charging but no movement.
    Car is stoping engine running.
Foot off the gas in B mode
It sounds like some noise is starting to happen at 55mph

Why do I think it's the transmission. Well vibration has gotten so bad if it was another run problem I would call it misfiring and we know what misfiring is like with this car.

Isn't it is "park"? I don't think it should turn.
I've have not done anything with the Prius transmission except replace the fluid a few times.
    Does the other one turn???

Have you checked your wheel bearing for noise, grinding?

The video shows the input shaft being hard to turn. Being in Park doesn't affect that. It should turn quite freely, just freewheeling MG1 around.

On all the transmissions I ever worked on the park was on the final drive not in the beginning of the transmission.
