Yup it's back together and runs inside car.

Did you make sure the chain tensioner unlocked before you started the engine?

That's great! Hope the timing issue is simple and quick to fix.

Rebuilding an engine is really not that difficult just time consuming and painful for me.

Do you have a picture of your timing marks after the engine was timed?

I'm fairly sure it will lead back to strange timing chain.

I did out of car experiments before I put timing cover on and I had my doubts it was correct since timing mark was not on top dead center with timing chain on marks.
The manual says to have it on top dead center in order to align the top marks

If the dot on the wheel is the mark and not the gash it would make more sense

Crank shaft is about 15 after mark of 0. I could take off harmonic balancer and the yellow would probably be on the dot.

But that's not how manual says to check it. It says to put harmonic balancer on zero. Then check chain on top IMG_20191026_085046__01__01.jpeg IMG_20191026_085009.jpeg

Car ran great even with blown head gasket. I don't see how chain could have been stretched this far and car still run as well as it did

From looking at the photos, and drawing(#3), it looks like you are 1 tooth off on the right camshaft.
It's hard to tell because of the angle, but it the right hand of the two red/brass links supposed to
line up with the line? Or should the two split the line?
Did you take photos before you took it apart? That's what I do, and/or make a video so I can put it
back the same way. Unless of course it was messed before. But if it was working before you did the head
gasket, it would have to be the timing chain, correct?
Did you rotate the engine a few times by hand until the marks lined up again?

Ok better instructions for timing is

Make crankshaft at TDC. By either having cover on and harmonic balancer pointed to 0.:
Or the keyway pointed twords the center bolt holes of cover.
Then set up colored links on the marks.

All this degrees crap makes it confusing.

Degrees shouldn't matter. TDC is TDC.
The photos/diagrams are confusing because the are blurry so it's hard to tell where the links
line up, the right/forward link, or between them.
That's why I take photos before taking it apart. They I compare the photos. :)

I didn't image when I took it apart but the crank was 1 tooth off.

So here it is now. With crank definitely on 0. IMG_20191026_170652.jpeg IMG_20191026_171603.jpeg
