2011 with jbl navigation. Bluetooth issue.

Just bought a used 2011 prius 4 with a jbl navigation system. I'm trying to connect a pixel xl with the system for phone and media. But, it's only letting me do one or the other. Is there something I don't know? Am I really stuck with only being able to use one or the other. I know I can use an adapter through the auxiliary port. But being the higher model at that time, I find it crazy that it will only do one or the other. Thanks everyone.
