2011 without navigation system aux input not working

Hey sorry if this has been posted on before, tried to search for it but couldn’t find a thread on this topic.

I’ve got a 2011 series 3 that does not come with a navigation system. I wanted to connect my iPhone XR to the aux input, so I bought a bluetooth adapter. Turns out neither my XR or my wife’s Motorola G 4+ (Which can connect directly to the aux port) will even register as plugged in. I’ve never streamed music to the Prius before, so I have no idea if the Aux port is dead or if I’m using the wrong devices.

Any advice?
