Interior Pics Taken from here: Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums - View Single Post - 2012 Camry The centre console looks more truck-like (I'm thinking 4Runner) than car. The wood trim across the dash is Lexus-like. I know they had it in the current Camry elsewhere so we'll see if this makes it over the pond. Also from what I can tell (i.e. squinting), the instrument panel hood is covered in leather (or synthetic leather). Nice touch! Probably the Plasmacluster ionizer Looks like the same chocolate carbon-fibre like finish on the Venza w/ cloth interior
as you can see by the pics, electric motor is the same... but it seems to have more max hp battery output for extra 6hp. so extra 15% of torque from engine, extra 15% from battery output and lower weight... should be quite faster in the end.
That's a non-hybrid (despite the subtitle) for sure. There is no HSD badge on the side of front fender.
The interior looks decent enough... But man, can Toyota make the EV and ECO mode buttons more hidden? I sure hope that door (change drawer/ashtray) is a sliding one and not a flip up. As for exterior styling... I just hope that it looks better in person. In pictures, it looks so similar to the outgoing model, which IMO is a bit too conservative. I guess Toyota is chasing the aging Baby Boomers.
A few more tidbits from Sergiospl's link Two hybrid levels - LE and XLE hybrid Thicker steering wheel and chunkier levers on the SE model no direct injection ridiculous fuel economy (they mention 8.2/5.6L/100km for the 4 cylinder which translates to 29/42mpg and 9.7/6.4L/100km for the V6 or 24/36 mpg) Quieter with more sound insulating foam (those injected foam) 39% better fuel economy with the hybrid The specs seem a little off... a mix of current and new specifications so I would take it with a grain of salt. That looks to be an LE model That looks to be the SE model. Anyone noticed that it has a different bumper than the Hybrid? It has a a little kink under the low beam while the Hybrid doesn't. If you're talking about the lid ahead of the shifter & cupholders, it's most likely sliding.
tideland, where did you see hybrid fuel consumption? all of the info in tech spec boxes is simply from 2011 Camry... but in text they have those other mpg's. but obviously pics are correct if anything... toyotanation posted also confirmed than LE, SE and XLE will all have 6.1" multimedia system as standard
It was in the text. I didn't pull anything from the text box because they're all referring to the current 2011 Camry like you said.
I do not know about the numbers though. Didn't the other Japanese magazine say 25% improvement? 39% would put it (assuming he's using Canadian figures of 5.7L/100km) at 4.1L/100km (58mpg) which is a huge jump. I don't know if I believe that. I expect the Camry to hover at around 5.0L/100km but will be impressed if it drops below that as a combined figure!
Colours Specs from a dealer: 2012 Camry Specs - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums Looks like the Blizzard Pearl on the Japanese model won't make it across the shore and we're stuck with the standard white.
there is no chance it would get 4.1l, those are prius numbers... but around 5l seems reasonable. for me, normal trunk is the most important thing in there... thats what hybrids need - no compromises.
this seems like next generation hybrid system from Toyota... If CT200h gets 44/40, and 64hp more powerful, 2.5l based, larger, heavier Camry Hybrid gets 43/39, it can only mean large difference between those two systems.
Thanks Spwolf for posting. I have an '07 Camry that I am holding until the Prius plug in, but I am now tempted by the >40mpg combined for the '12 Camry Hybrid?
To compete with the Fusion and Sonata hybrids the Camry had to step up it's game. The new mpg spread makes the hybrid version a better deal than in the past when compared to the equivalent non- hybrid model.
I have not seen any information about the engines, but the mileage improvement seemed to be without Direct Injection?
