2012 PIP 15,000 miles when hybrid warning light came on

    14v is the reading when the car is running. Check the 12V in the morning after sitting all night with a multi meter and you would like to see 12v to12 .6v. If the reading is below 12V. Then the battery is near the end of it's useful life.

    Toyota dealer techs do not have a good record of determining 12V battery health on a Prius.

    In my experience I believe the dealers go by the year of the battery and determine it requires replacement. It's more of an upsell strategy, I don't think they really test it. I had my car at the dealer once and they advised me that my battery needed replacement (over 5 years old), I tested it at home and it still registered over 12v with a load.
