The instrument panel on my Prius (speedometer, fuel gauge, etc. on the dash) keeps going out intermittently. Took it to the Toyota place and of course the lights were back on. Has anyone else had this problem and how was it solved? Thanks!

This happened to me this morning...as mrbigh said my 2 year old had turned the dimmer knob all the way down. As soon as the headlights came on the dash would go out except for the gear display. I have a 2012 also. I was glad that's all it was!

Make sure that a piece of paper or business card isn't Covering UP the prism reflection system of the Dash display
All Indication viewed comes from the bottom of the dash and the actual indications reflects on to a horizontal screen which is viewed by the driver

I have the same problem, fuel and milage gauge going off and ON from time to time. I remove instrument cluster and check all solder points - all was OK, on PCB where is fuel display one big transistor is going hot, transistor was checked OK, there is one small IC which generate square signal for two MOSFET-s - also OK, but big transistor haven't trigger signal and going HOT.
    any suggestion?

small HUD display is OK and big right (center) display also working normal.

I somehow had the lights on and the dimmer all of the way down. Occom's Razor at it's finest!
