2012 Prius V hybrid battery issue

    2012 Prius V. I replaced the hybrid battery with a used one (86k miles). Before, the car would turn off within 5 minutes or less. After installing the used battery, the hybrid warning light turned off, but it came back within a few minutes. Now, the car turns off after 20 minutes or so. Is it possible that the inverter is bad? Or is the replacement hybrid battery not good? Also good to note that before replacing the hybrid battery, the car would only run with the engine. Now, the engine turns off and the hybrid battery takes over. Also, I replaced the inverter pump.

    Has the inverter motor generator ECU re-flash TSB been accomplished?

    Are you ever going to read the trouble codes to find out why the warning light is on?

    You probably need a new Traction Battery and a Inverter.

    You might try google more.....the traction battery is the BIG Battery 200+ volts in the back of the car.
    I guess you could call it the hybrid battery but that's not the correct term.

    you need to go to the toyota website and and create a account...then you can put your vin # in there and see what has been done to the car at a toy dealership.

    My car has a fairly NEW Traction Battery and it shuts off in 2 minutes or less.

    This car has the hybrid warning light showing. There's no word that anyone has read the trouble codes to find out why yet. That would be worth doing.

    My understanding is the TSB covers pre-existing circuit board damage prior to the reflash. You might try it.

    Not everybody's favorite outcome, but still it is nice to finally know what the issue is (and what other issues it isn't).

    almost 10 year old battery........

    but now only have to worry about the inverter blowing, burning oil, head gasket and the brakes going out plus the dreaded EGR System.
