They are nice but the regular Prius offers cheap plastic hubcaps and odd black alloy wheels which so many on Prius Chat spending thousand's correcting.

It is one of many areas the CMAX beats out the Prius.

If I wanted to be the slowest person, I could try to do 61 but at 65 cars fly by me in most parts of the commute. In my old Subaru Forester and Toyota Corolla I'd usually average about 75 on the highway and upwards of 85 when traffic moved that (I usually just stick to the left lane and drive with traffic). With the Prius, I tend to keep it more around 70-75. I was getting about 59 mpg for the days when the temp was above 40. The temps dropped down to below 30 and right now the car is parked outside so I don't get the full advantage of driving to/from the expressway in EV mode since the ICE kicks in to heat up the car as soon as I start driving, so I've been getting 51-53 mpg since then. We're going to clean up a spot in the garage one of these days, but the garage door is manual so it's kind of a PITA to open/close it for a car. Maybe someday I'll get a opener installed, but that's going to cost $$$. They are industrial garage doors (14' high, and insulated).

I love the comfort and the look of 15" wheels in my PiP. 49 MPG on the highway is also great. The replacement tires are also cheaper than 17" low profile tires.

Do you think a block heater could be a solution to help the ICE to warm the car more rapidly ?

"Meanwhile, the Energi bloats to 3899 pounds. To find some perspective on just how heavy this is, we randomly opened our Standard Catalog of American Cars, 1946-1975 to page 521 and learned that the 1961 Mercury Monterey sedan--which rode on a 120-inch wheelbase and stretched 214.6 inches in total length--weighed 3777 pounds. (The Prius Plug-in seems relatively svelte at 3165 pounds.)"

"During our 75-km drive route from San Francisco’s Embarcadero hotel district north to the coastal town of Point Reyes, our C-Max Energi’s battery dried up after 26 km and we averaged an indicated 50.1 mpg (or 4.7 L/100 km)." Preview: 2013 Ford C-Max Energi | Driving | National Post

Motor Trend's Car-of-the-Year issue arrived today an a quick scan showed their test of the C-Max getting 37.7MPG for a 47MPG car. Most other cars in the review they got 1-2 MPG lower than EPA.

Seems like C-Max energi delivers good EV range (23.8 miles) with a full charge, but a 45-mile round trip starting with a fully charged battery displays a 53.8 mpg including the 23.8 EV miles of mostly highway driving at 60 to 65 mph.

45 miles / 53.8 mpg = 0.836 gallon used for that round trip.

    45 - 23.8 EV miles = 21.2 miles on gas.

21.2 miles / 0.836 gallon = 25.35 mpg on gas. That very low.
